This writing prompt says to list ten things that I know to be absolutely certain. I decided that this would be about me and not a fictional character. I wanted to explain a little bit about each fact as well.
1. I’ve been married ten years.
If you had told me in college that the man I would marry was someone who I knew already I wouldn’t have believed you. We got married at the end of march of 2016. When we first started dating there were those who were against us. But the most important people in our lives supported us and that was all we needed. It has not been an easy road. No marriage ever is, but it is ours and I will not change it for the world.
2. I am my daughter’s favorite person.
My daughter has been attached to my side since the day she was born. She is growing up on me way too fast. She is almost done with kindergarten and has become quite a young lady. As much as she is growing, she is still wanting me and showing me all of her love. I know that will not last forever, but I am grateful for it now.
3.Pizza is my favorite food.
Always has been, always will be. I have not had good taste buds my whole life. So pizza as my go to is not that far of a stretch. Though I have always stood by the fact that not all pizza is created equally.
4. I’m addicted to Pepsi.
I drink so much Pepsi it’s not a surprise that I’m constantly dehydrated. Funny story from college. During my sophomore year my dormmates and I were sitting around catching up after winter break when the subject of my addiction came up. Though it was the smokers giving me the hardest time. So as a comeback I said that my addiction wasn’t killing me, unlike theirs. That had given us all a good laugh. However, the next morning I was in a lot of pain in class and was taken by ambulance to the emergency room. Turns out that I was passing a kidney stone from how much Pepsi I drink. They never let me live that down.
5. I’m really enjoying my own stories.
I do love that there are a few people who have started to follow me on this blog. And I really appreciate all of you. But I do have to admit that I have been enjoying writing just for my own satisfaction. I think that even if no one else ends up subscribing I will continue to write.
6. I want to protect my family.
Even with my choice to start sharing my stories my goal is to protect my family as best I can. Therefore, my promise to them is even though I mention them I will not use their names so that they are protected for as long as I can. This means that their names won’t even be character names in fictional stories I write.
7. My favorite color is purple.
It is hard to coordinate our families for colors in our house. Because they all clash with each other. Though as a compromise for our wedding my husband agreed to not have his favorite color in our wedding. So, we decided that my bouquet would have purple and black roses. They were fake flowers because we had a courthouse wedding, but they were beautiful.
8. “What will come will come, and we will have to face it when it does.”
This is my favorite quote from Hagrid from the end of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. When I’m going through a hard time I think about this to try to calm all the what ifs running though my head. The Harry Potter series is one that I was introduced to in middle school. And Hagrid, trying to calm Harry’s nerves in that moment is something that calms mine when there are a lot of nerves overwhelming me.
9. I am an introvert.
I was an extreme introvert when I was growing up. That led to a lot of bullying by my classmates in grade school. It got a lot better in middle school when I switched schools and made a group of friends that really wanted me to be a part of their group. Those girls will always have a special place in my heart.
10. I hate asking for help.
This stems from being an introvert and childhood bullying I believe. I don’t like anyone thinking I can’t do something by myself. This is sometimes a detriment when I get overwhelmed. I really am trying to get better at that but it’s hard.
