Dark Places

I wrote this for a high school freshmen art project. Approximately fall 2003. For the project I condensed it down so that the art itself was highlighted, but this is the original version. This is my first piece of writing.

Everyone has a problem

But no one likes to share

Keep it all inside

Where there is so much fear

Put on a happy face

Hide behind your smile

No one will ever know your troubles

But when you’re with whom you trust

Let them know what’s up

Don’t collapse inside your bubble

Within that place so dark

Open up to see the light

To release all that fear

So next time you’re feeling down

Remember the light is all around.
