M.A.S.H’s Prediction

Write a story based on a M.A.S.H game. I wanted just a quick story to make me feel good. I did have a lot of fun playing the game again. I used an online random number generator to determine the number to count to between 1 and 25. I landed on the number 11. I you enjoy this feel-good story.

Lauren and her friends were what you would call typical American middle schoolers. The kind you see on television from the suburbs. They were just hitting the age where adults wanted them to start thinking about their future. Lauren and her friends, Maizy and Becca were having a sleepover for Becca’s birthday. At dinner Becca’s mom and aunt were talking about some of the fun sleepover games they used to play when they were younger. The three friends decided to look up the games online. They had so much fun laughing all night long at the things they found and came up with.

The next morning while packing up Lauren stuck her copy of the MASH game and the cootie catcher in her bag. When she unpacked, she put the games in her desk and quickly forgot about them.

Lauren and her friends grew up almost too fast in their opinion and eventually all moved away from their neighborhood. They kept in touch as good friends do. Before they knew it they all received invitations to their twenty-year high school reunion. They were all looking forward to visiting home with their families and catching up.

When Lauren arrived at her parents’ house she put her three kids up in her old bedroom. Her husband Noah and herself would be in the guest room. Her children couldn’t help but look at some of the old things and Lauren spent afternoon walking down memory lane.

At the back of Lauren’s old desk, she found two folded up pieces of paper. One was the cootie catcher that her kids found amusing. They each got to ask a question and laughed at the simple answers. Then she unfolded the other paper and found the MASH Game from that sleepover. She was amazed at how accurate her life turned out to be.

She hadn’t met Noah until she was in college. The girls hadn’t liked any one in their class back then, so they had just picked a bunch of random names. Under job it had said she should have been a lawyer. Lauren had considered it in her high school years but had chosen to become an accountant instead. She was happy with her choice.

Under car was a listed convertible. She currently drove an SUV to accommodate her family. But she smiled knowing she was about to purchase a convertible as a gift for her husband and son to restore together. Miles the hamster was adored by everyone except Lauren in the house. Her favorite hobby was puzzles but because she did them with the kids. She used it as an excuse to get the kids to relax and open to her and each other without the pressure of constant questions.

At the reunion a couple of days later, Lauren had the chance to show Maizy and Becca her mash game. They had kept and found their games recently as well. Though not perfect, it was earie how one game years ago had been so accurate for each of them.

Noah wrapped his arms around Lauren and whispered in the ear about fate bringing them together.
