Instruments of Learning

This writing prompt tells you to find a random word in the dictionary and write a story about it. This is a simple one to come back to when I have little inspiration for other prompts.

Instrument- Noun

1. a tool or implement, especially one for delicate or scientific work 2. A measuring device used to gauge the level, position or speed of something 3. An object or device for producing musical sounds 4. A formal document especially a legal one.

In school the instruments of learning came to life. in the science department the beakers and test tubes thought they were the most important. They help the students measure accurately all the liquids in their experiments. Without these instruments of measurements, the results could be disastrous.

In the music department all the musical instruments harmonize with the students, they know that they help teach the students’ discipline.

In the math department the calculators and rulers keep the students accurate in their calculations. Sometimes as simple as a misplaced decimal point could lead to tons of errors.

In the home economics department, the instruments that teach the students the most are the thermometers that keep the students cooking on point.

In physical education the stopwatch keeps track of the kids’ speed so they can push themselves to go faster.

In wood shop the cutting instruments know they are the sharpest around. They help the students create something out of nothing.

In the art department the paintbrushes and pencils bring to life the imagination of the students’ minds.

In the office the clock watches all of this and keeps the students moving between each of the learning instruments. The clock knows that all instruments are important to the success of the school.
